Mish'al Al-Huda Association
In the middle of the last century in 1946, in the heart of the qadaa/county of Koura, and in the town of Bishmizzine, which is steeped in science and culture, a women's association was born from the ladies of the village who met and decided to engage in volunteer work to serve the community.
Why not? The woman is as knowledgeable as her brother, and she is therefore able to contribute to building and supporting her community with responsibility and mastery.
The founding women were: Katrine Mikha'il Mufarrij, Wadi’ah Jirjis Mufarrij, Hilani Jirjis Mufarrij, Azizi Lattuf Milki ThurayaTalib Barakat, Laila Gibra’il Jiha and Nasibi Jabbur Milki.
The objectives of the "Mish’al Al-Huda" (torch of guidance) Association are to
- Assist Bishmizzine High School.
- Provide assistance to all who are sick or or need.
- Participate in development projects in the village.
(Registration of the Association with the Ministry of Interior, “ilm wa khabr”, permit number 0602).
In the Association's first year (1946), it provided benches, tables, and other things for Bishmizzine High School. It also contributed to the construction of the school and its kindergarten. Most importantly, it helped needy students pay their school fees, as it still does.
This Association also contributed to the construction of a large hall belonging to the village church to host village social and cultural events, and supported many other projects, too many to be mentioned. All of this would not have been possible without the efforts of those who became involved in these matters and started friendly competition to provide help and service. Despite all the deteriorating conditions and the difficult days in Lebanon, the Association has continued its work and never stopped providing aid so that its work remains a balm for wounds, a drier of tears, and an encourager of education.
Here, the principal of Bishmizzine High School, Mrs. Laila Fares Shaheen honored and thanked the President, Leila Najjar Moufarrej and members of Mish’al Al-Huda Association.
Today, despite the darkness of our conditions, this "torch" has remained lit by the blessing of those who founded it and have kept it going, past and present, with the determination of members who are only interested in doing good. Let us never forget the goodness of those who have encouraged charitable work through this Association. They are many, and we thank them all.
